Blue Letter

Written by Curtis/Curtis; sung by L. Buckingham

It was a blue letter she wrote to me It's silver words she told Wanna be on the road to paradise I wanna lover who don't get old Do I read a message in your eyes? You wanna love to stay another night Baby, when your day goes down I won't be waitin' around for you For every voice you've ever heard There's a thousand without a word Redbird, don't say you told me so Give me one more song to go Do I read a message in your eyes? You wanna love to stay another night Baby, when your day goes down I won't be waitin' around for you Oh, yeah For every voice you've ever heard There's a thousand without a word Redbird, don't say you told me so Give me one more song to go Do I read a message in your eyes? You wanna love to stay another night Baby, when your day goes down I won't be waitin' around for you I ain't waitin', I ain't waitin' I ain't waitin', I ain't waitin' I ain't waitin', I ain't waitin' I ain't waitin', I ain't waitin' I ain't waitin'

Single version appears on the White Album Reissue with Bonus Material (2004)

WEBMISTRESS speculates:

This song was not written by Lindsey Buckingham, but I still think he related to it. At this time, Lindsey and Stevie were still together, but it was very tempestous. Maybe this song helped Lindsey express some of his frustrations, especially the line "I won't be waiting around for you." We know how much he hates that from the song Not That Funny! But it's probably only personally expressive in a vague way - he didn't write it, and who knows - maybe he just picked it because he liked the beat! Plus, I hear the guys who wrote it were at the studio Fleetwood Mac was using and one thing led to another...but it does fit Lindsey well!
