Bel Air Rain

 Written by L. Buckingham

Fighting for a cause I can't remember anymore
Well, I guess you could say that I was framed
Somebody said there would be a knock at my door
Oh, but that knock, it never came

I changed my name, I went insane
Still I can't complain, standing in the Bel Air rain
Standing in the Bel Air rain
Standing in the Bel Air rain
In my younger days I was mistaken for a whore
I guess you could say I lived in shame
Everyone's peace lives side by side with their war
Oh, but eventually everyone gets tamed

I changed my name, I went insane
Still I can't complain, standing in the Bel Air rain
Standing in the Bel Air rain
Standing in the Bel Air rain

WEBMISTRESS speculates:

As Lindsey has matured, many of his songs have become reflective about the path his life has taken and the ways he has changed. Saying he "went insane" obviously recalls the album Go Insane, which makes me think that he believes that separating himself from Fleetwood Mac and going solo was akin to changing his name. Also, in leaving behind Fleetwood Mac's commercialism, he also left behind any talk that he was in it for the money, not for the love (nobody can call him a whore anymore). His life is much tamer now, but as he's stated many times, it's also much happier. He can't complain.
