American Way

Written & Sung: J. Stewart; Backup Vocal and Guitar: L. Buckingham

Sometimes, early in the morning Yeah, sometimes, when the world goes 'round Well, there was one lie that I was believing, yeah That dream girls never bring you down And I know somebody's daughter She didn't mean wrong when she said those things She said that I was the oil on the water, yeah She was an Angel who had found her wings And when your love's gone Early in the morning, yeah And when your love's gone Early in the day And when your love's gone Long around midnight, yeah And when your love's gone OK, it's the American way Sometimes, early in the morning Oh, sometimes, when the world goes 'round And there was one lie that I was believing, yeah That dream girls never bring you down And when your love's gone Early in the morning, yeah And when your love's gone Early in the day And when your love's gone Long around midnight, yeah And when your love's gone OK, it's the American way And when your love's gone Early in the morning, yeah And when your love's gone Early in the day And when your love's gone Long around midnight, yeah And when your love's gone OK, it's the American way And when your love's gone OK, it's the American way And when your love's gone OK, it's the American way And when your love's gone OK, it's the American way

WEBMISTRESS speculates:

This album is a collection of demos, newly produced, that were written from about 1981-1983. Most of the tracks have never appeared before, and this is one of them. However, I think this song is as good, if not better, than many of the ones he HAS released previously! It's fun, has a good beat, and a good melody. Not to mention our favorite guitarist doing some awesome harmonizing on the chorus!
