The Surfin' Ghost

Written: Fuller; Backup Vocal: L. Buckingham

There's a woody headed out to Malibu today Pickin' up the bunnies along the way When he gets to the beach and hits the surf He tells all the breakers "Get off of my turf" He's the surfin' ghost Known all over the coast Hangin' ten With your girlfriend Surfin' ghost Now his board is a cloud from out of the sky It may sound weird, but I'll tell you why They say he died back in '62 Shootin' the curves got him out of the blue He's the surfin' ghost Known all over the coast Hangin' ten With your girlfriend Surfin' ghost Now, he's there for a reason Every old dad should know So if you see him Don't tell him to go He surfs with the bunnies Checkin' 'em out And when he's beside them They never wipe out He's the surfin' ghost Known all over the coast Hangin' ten With your girlfriend Surfin' ghost He's the surfin' ghost Known all over the coast Hangin' ten With your girlfriend Surfin' ghost He's the surfin' ghost Known all over the coast Hangin' ten With your girlfriend Surfin' ghost

WEBMISTRESS speculates:

This album by the Malibooz, a group with Walter Egan in it, is full of fluff songs like this, harkening back to the days of the Beach Boys when all the songs were about surfin' and drivin' (sound familiar, Walter?) Anyway, it's kind of cute - you might want to play it at a Halloween party once a year. Not exactly megahit material, though!
