September Song

Written by Maxwell Anderson and Kurt Weill

Well, it's a long, long time From May to December But the days grow short When you reach September And the autumn weather Turns the leaves to gray And I haven't got time For the waiting game And the days dwindle down To a precious few September, November... And these few precious days I spend with you These precious days I spend with you And the days dwindle down To a precious few September, November... And these few precious days I spend with you These precious days I spend with you

WEBMISTRESS speculates:

Lindsey didn't write this song, but why did he pick it? He probably liked the sound, although the only part I like is the section starting with "And the days dwindle down....". The one line I find in this song that reflects a theme found in a lot of Lindsey's work is "I haven't got time for the waiting game." He hates waiting (see Not That Funny)! And perhaps he did feel time his was getting short in FM (although he didn't actually leave for a few years).
