Casablanca

Written: Donohue/Getreau/Fisher; Sung: D. Donohue; Backup Vocal: S. Nicks

Meeting in a jungle of a hundred burning suns We couldn't hide, we couldn't run In a city of mirages, you never know who to trust This isn't fantasy, this is us Oh, Casablanca, you were my island Lost in the middle of an ocean of sand We were actors in their dreams, ain't it true, baby Oh, Casablanca, you were my island Lost in the middle of an ocean of sand We had everybody's eyes upon us Where the fundamental things apply Love never changes as time goes by Sound stage seven, you'd pretend you're not there Cameras are rolling, make believe you don't care We were actors in their dreams, ain't it true, baby Oh, Casablanca, you were my island Lost in the middle of an ocean of sand Oh, Casablanca, you'll never change Oh, Casablanca, you'll never change Oh, Casablanca, love never changes

WEBMISTRESS speculates:

I don't really like this song, but apparently it was well-received by the music community because not only does Stevie sing backup, but so do Don Henley and a horde of other "celebs." Maybe the show business references appealed to them - Stevie must have liked the "we were actors in their dreams" part, as she could no doubt relate to that!
