WEBMISTRESS speculates:
I'm not really sure what this song is talking about, but I'll try anyway! I think "Sister Honey" represents someone - a part of Stevie? - who is very sexual. She needs a man, she's a big "temptation" and a "pleasure" provider, but she seems to be looking for someone a little more innocent than her in that she believes him when he says he doesn't think that way. However, after the thrill is over, is seems like they can never be friends, despite the best intentions (certainly she and Lindsey were not buddies post-relationship).
In this song, he's telling her, "you're not always right, and if you don't realize what a good thing you're leaving, than you're a fool." There's also a hint that she's leaving him for glory - strange, because Stevie usually claims that Lindsey was the glory-seeker (see The Highwayman) but here she's taking on that role (it seems to me admitting SHE is a glory-seeker is more honest). The line about the hair recalls Gold and Braid, which was written around the same time, I believe. But she's still leaving, and quickly - fast like a "star stream" (a la Sorcerer). All the while, she's continuing to "hit [him] with a fury" suggesting that maybe they could do it just "one more time." Sister Honey is a player!
Sister Honey is about her fast & furious relationship with Les Dudek. He co-wrote and played lead guitar on this song.As her relationship with Jimmy Iovine crumbled during Rock A Little recording sessions..she fell into a brief fling with Les Dudek. Stevie relied on Les and Rick Nowels to finish this album that was in trouble! Les also had an affair with Cher in the early 80's..they had a band called Black Rose together. Sister Honey was recorded live in the Coldwater Canyons of L.A.at Les' house. Stevie has gone on record to say you could hear them playing so loud the neighbors were upset! It was a relationship that would not last..but created some fun sparks!
