Crystal

Written by S. Nicks

Do you always trust your first, initial feeling? Special knowledge holds truth, bears believing I turned around And the water was closing all around Like a glove Like the love That had finally, finally found me And I knew In the crystalline knowledge of you Drove me through the mountains Through the crystal-like and clear water fountain Drove me like a magnet To the sea To the sea To the sea, yeah How the faces of love have changed, turning the pages And I have changed; oh, but you, you remain ageless I turned around And the water was closing all around Like a glove Like the love That had finally, finally found me And I knew In the crystalline knowledge of you Drove me through the mountains Through the crystal-like and clear water fountain Drove me like a magnet To the sea To the sea To the sea, yeah To the sea, yeah Yeah...yeah I turned around and the water was closing around me I turned around and the water was closing around me Sea...sea... I turned around and the water was closing around me Around me...like a glove..around me.... Around me...all around me.... I turned around...the water was closing around me

Original Version Appears on Buckingham Nicks; Another version appears on Fleetwood Mac

WEBMISTRESS speculates:

See Crystal for most of my thoughts about this song. However, this version has some interesting differences. Of course, the main difference is that Stevie is singing her song, rather than Lindsey. I think this causes the song to lose some of that inherent romance. Still, lyrically, the song remains much the same. However, at the end Stevie repeatedly ad-libs "I turned around and the water was closing around me" - focusing on that wonderful image of all-encompassing love.
