This song wasn't written by Stevie, but co-written by her close friend Sandy Stewart (a woman who has known Stevie for a long time, worked with her in the past, and who views Stevie as a kind of mentor. She wrote Seven Wonders with her, for instance). At any rate, I think it's terrific, and that's not just because I used to live in a room outside of Houston, too! (Lindsey can have his Empire State all to himself.) As for personal meaning? Well, farbeit from me to suggest that a song about someone leaving a woman to return to a life with a wife and kids might reflect a certain situation in Stevie's life!
