Stevie seems pretty discouraged and lonely in this song - strange because it was written so early and yet she's already world-weary! She wants to know everything - why is her life like it is? She asks God because no one else can tell her the answers. However, it seems like when she does have an opportunity to become less lonely, she doesn't take advantage of it; she closes her eyes and is "not aware." Maybe Stevie should look to herself to discover the reason why she's unhappy.
