While this song is rough, I'd like to defend the quality because it sounds like something she never intended to release but wanted to get down for her own uses, and from experience it can be amazingly difficult to get your own harmonies to line up perfectly and if you were able to, you wouldn't be able to tell that it was two tracks of you singing, unless you sang it in a different pitch, which she does try but it gives it a little bit of a choir feel. I think the message of this song is much of what she was feeling at the time it was written, she had to leave the safety of Fleetwood Mac, which meant leaving the people she loved. The "grey-blue, some silver... Santa Monica, baby" seem to scream "Lindsey" while the parts about "white lines" seem to reference the fact that like she has said, Bella Donna was when she first started to realise that cocaine was not good for her at all. Finally, the lines about building a house (while also referencing "Sara") seem to point to the stories of Rhiannon and Branwen. Branwen was given away to Maloduth the Irish King by her brother Bran and while she was a good wife and bore him a son, Maloduth decided to divorce her and sent her to live in the kitchen where the cook boxed her ears each day as a punishment for shaming Ireland by being Welsh. Branwen teaches a starling how to speak and sends it to her brother to come rescue her (hence the starling flew for days in Sara) and in spite of all this, Branwen still felt a compassion and love for both her son and Maloduth. It seems a little like a metaphor for how she may have felt about both Don Henley and Lindsey at the time.
