See the World Go By

Written by S. Nicks

Bubbles and balloons Sailing upward to the sky You and I As the days go by Cinnamon and wine Pouring from a bottle, amber, never clearing You and I See the world go by Pure is the ground How rich is the gold? What is this I've found? Should I be so bold? To make.... Such a heavy mixture I have found a new recipe Not for them I have made for me Bubbles and balloons Sailing upward to the sky You and I See the world go by Cinnamon and wine Pouring from a bottle, amber, never clearing You and I See the world go by

OK, this song doesn't seem to have too much of a deep meaning, just a fanciful little song about spending a day relaxing, watching the sky, drinking wine.... and some nice visuals that I don't really get involving the ground and recipes... oh, well, it sounds good!

Just taking a Wild guess with this one, but I think there may actually be quite a lot to "See the World Go By." I think Nicks is saying that she's found her own "Witch's Brew" for the perfect love - she and a certain "Knight in Shining Armor" she met in High School - and she's perfectly happy to just be drunk (in love) with him and watch the world go by. She knows that the ground of their love is pure, but what about all the glitter? (the "Gold"). Will it fade? I think the "As the days go by" line is really intriguing - it seems to be a reference to "Edge of Seventeen" - time has passed since then - but she still remembers. But WHATEVER it's about - what a wonderful, beautiful poem!
