Jenny Was a Dream Girl

Written & Sung: J. Stewart; Arrangment & Backup Vocal: L. Buckingham

Jenny, when you find the sun Dream girls do Jenny, when you're on the run It's dream girl dues Runnin' with the boys when the boys said go You had them out on the line And they danced all night to the song you sang Jenny was a dream girl down the line Jenny, you're before the fall Dream girls do Jenny, when you hit the wall And your dreams fall through Don't look close in your lover boy's eyes You're gonna see it's true That nothing is free and the heart you break Jenny, like a dream, comes back to you Jenny was a dream girl Jenny was a dream girl Jenny was a dream girl down the line Runnin' with the boys when the boys said go You had them out on the line And they danced all night to the song you sang Jenny was a dream girl down the line Jenny was a dream girl Jenny was a dream girl Jenny was a dream girl down the line

WEBMISTRESS speculates:

This is a song is about a good girl gone bad, obviously. A side note: John Stewart really likes the phrase "down the line", doesn't he? Just transcribing the songs Lindsey appears on for him, I've seen it several times - Buddy Won't You Roll, Somewhere Down the Line, etc. But I don't know, maybe that was a big phrase back then, Lindsey uses it in a couple songs, too - Monday Morning, for instance - and Stevie uses it as well in songs like Ooh My Love and I Don't Want to Know. OK, I've gotten off on a tangent! As for this song, not my favorite, but not too bad, either.
