WEBMISTRESS speculates:
Well, this song is rather bizarre, but I'll do my best. Stevie likes to talk about dreams a lot, as we all know. Pick an album and there's a dream reference in it! Here, I believe she's talking about the love she and Lindsey shared: it wasn't a dream, it was real, even though it's over. He's got the bright eyes (as in Blue Denim) and he's saying that he still believes in the dream, and she seems conflicted, agreeing that she can still believe in the dream but "it's not alright" to go back there. He says "Why?" And then she speaks of storms, I think referring to their tempestuous relationship. That's why she doesn't want to go back: she's tired of waiting for the next storm to hit.
RUISRYAN speculates:
I think this is one of the few Stevie songs where she takes a dominating roll. "Now you know, now its for real, its not for sale, surrender why you feel the same way that I do" it's almost as if she is coaxing a shy love along, saying it's not a dream, it's a real life thing, I have not been dreaming. However there is that part of Stevie that "has always been a storm" that she is afraid will come to the surface again and ruin this love affair. But Stevie must have a "dream I can still believe in" as if all of her dreams hve perished in the sunlight, but she can't give up on them, but are YOU ready for this feeling? Because it seems as if she is doubtful about her lover's resolve in this relationship.
